Glen Abbey is a planned community built adjacent to the current Glen Abbey Golf Club, which was designed by Jack Nicklaus in the 1980s, and hosted more than 25 Canadian Opens including the 2016 event. There is currently a proposal under review to develop the course, which would create new housing and retail units, and turn more than half of the land into public park space. Glen Abbey is known for its excellent athletic amenities, including a community centre with a large indoor pool and water slide, the Sixteen Mile Sports Complex, and the Oakville Gymnastics and Soccer Clubs. This community is surrounded by many hiking and walking trails and just a short drive from picturesque downtown Oakville, home to several fine dining options.
